POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst Financial Reporting contributes to CHEOs success by acting as an integral part of the Finance Operations of the organization. Reporting to the Manager Financial Reporting the Analyst is responsible for a range of tasks including account reconciliations journal entries billing treasury functions and month-end close processes. The role also involves analyzing and summarizing financial data to identify trends provide recommendations and support problem-solving. This position contributes to audit preparation charity return filings and continuous improvement initiatives within financial workflows. Through strong financial stewardship data-driven insights and collaboration this role helps ensure CHEO has the resources and understanding needed to deliver on its mission of providing the best life for every child and youth.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform monthly reconciliations and analysis of allocated General Ledger accounts such as accounts receivable accounts payable accrued liabilities and inventory

  • Record monthly journal entries in the accounting system to ensure month-end financial results are accurate and complete

  • Create monthly ad hoc billing to external entities with subsequent recording of payments received

  • Prepare and input of accounting transactions from various financial application systems into the General Ledger through journal entries customer invoices payments accruals and banking entries with appropriate supporting documentation

  • Liaise with various CHEO departments as well as counterparts at the School Authority Research Institute and Foundation to process interdepartmental and related party transactions and monitor the associated reconciliations

  • Assist in the month-end close process and the preparation of internal financial statements/reports for CHEO

  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial analysis of key general ledger control accounts in preparation for the external audit for the Hospital School Authority and Research Institute

  • Assist with preparation of CHEO and the Research Institutes annual T3010 Charity Returns

  • Identify opportunities for departmental workflow improvements as well as for improvements within the organizations financial and operational processes

  • Support directors and managers with regards to financial transactions reporting and other information requirements

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support a positive solutions-focused team environment

  • Seek opportunities to strengthen expertise and contribute to shared team knowledge

  • Deliver accurate high-quality work within tight deadlines and shifting priorities

  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Perform other related duties as and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Commerce Finance Accounting or a related discipline (Essential)*

  • Two (2) years of experience in Accounting and/or Financial Reporting (Essential)

  • Experience in health care (Preferred)

  • Professional accounting designation (or in pursuit of) (CA CPA CMA CGA CFA) (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS) (Preferred)

  • Previous experience with Workday (our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)) specifically Finance related modules (Preferred)

  • Demonstrated sound financial analytical and problem-solving skills (Essential)

  • Highly organized with strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach (Essential)

  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail (Essential)

  • Strong time-management skills and ability to adjust priorities as to meet deadlines (Essential)

  • Communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing in English (Essential)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with and without financial backgrounds (Essential)

  • A selfstarter with good interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build relationships within the team and across departments (Essential)

  • Criminal Record Check (Level 1) (Essential)

  • Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)

*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test practical exam or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested. Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.

Relevant du gestionnaire Rapports financiers lanalyste est responsable dun ventail de tches notamment le rapprochement de comptes les critures de journal la facturation les fonctions de trsorerie et les processus de clture de fin de mois. Le poste suppose galement danalyser et de rsumer des donnes financires afin de cerner les tendances de formuler des recommandations et dappuyer la rsolution de problmes.
