Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Traffic Management Center (TMC) Operations Specialist with TMC experience to join the team in Nashville TN. In this role you will assist our team inthe TDOT Traffic Management Center finding monitoring and resolving events along the I-24 SMART Corridor. Utilizing technologies and active communication skills you will be providing safety improvements for Tennesseans.

This is an onsite position requiring you to be at the client site Monday Friday 1:00pm CT 9:00pm CT. Candidate must be a TN resident local to the Nashville.

This role sits within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change urbanization and digitization trends are requiring todays mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the worlds growing population. We design connected sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

The TMC Operations Specialist willmanage the traffic network along I-24 and parallel routes in response to planned special events crashes and other highway events with the primary goal of first responder and public safety.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work in a dynamic operation environment with the primary goal of public safety for all roadway users.
  • Operate access and control traffic management devices (CCTV Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) etc.) and other equipment to monitor the I-24 SMART Corridor.
  • Support first responders emergency management and law enforcement communications.
  • Activate appropriate response(s) to detect and/or report incidents including but not limited to location assistance to first responders and notification to the public
  • Generate receive and respond to calls about various persons/organizations/agencies
  • Record all appropriate control room activities
  • Create and submit internal work orders for equipment failures or malfunctions
  • When directed by TDOT function as a member of the emergency response team
  • Employ various software applications to control ITS field devices monitor traffic flow and perform data analysis
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of all data submissions in operator logs reports and documentation
  • Provide guidance to responders and motorists during severe traffic-related events
  • Post alerts notifications and messages as needed
  • Assist in coordinating responses to disasters and high-profile special events that affect the roadway
  • Performs other related work as directed.

Key Attributes:

  • Skills in interpersonal relationships and ability to work well within a diverse group
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate written and verbal information
  • Ability to take calls dispatch on radio or telephone and otherwise clearly communicate information over a radio system or network in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to use traffic control computer applications
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with local roadways preferred
  • Ability to use computers in Windows-based applications
  • Ability to work alternate work schedules and be on-call as necessary

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience in public safety emergency management transportation dispatch customer service or similar environment is preferred

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per salary range for this position is $49390.00 - $79023.00. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
