We announce the followingSPECIAL EDUCATION vacancy in the Rochester Community Schools for the 2025-26 school year. Applications will be accepted until filled.

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

PART-TIME POSITION

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in speech and language pathology.
  • Meets state educational requirements including academic credit and practicum experience.
  • Approval from ASHA (American Speech Hearing Association)
  • Holds a State of Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist License.

SALARY:

Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement

Selection of an individual to fill this vacancy is determined by the appropriate administrators based upon experience qualifications and professional attributes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Building Principal Special Education Supervisor Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations Diversity Equity and Inclusion

JOB GOAL: Providing speech-language services to students fostering the highest level of communicative competence to support students overall educational goals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Completes screening and levels of MTTS.
  2. Provides initial and re-evaluations to assess and diagnose a variety of communication disorders i.e. speech sounds language disorders voice fluency social communication.
  3. Writes evaluations and develops measurable goals and programming to meet student needs.
  4. Provides consultation to classroom teachers and other educational personnel servicing general education and special education students.
  5. Provides direct service to students with communication disorders across education settings and programs.
  6. Coordinates methods of teaching with classroom teachers and other educators working with the students with communication disorders.
  7. Provides consultation to parents of children tested but not eligible for a direct service program
  8. Provides consultation with parents regarding childrens progress and home programming.
  9. Acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team with a specialization in speech and language and the impact of those skills within the educational setting.
  10. Implements requirements set forth by the mandated Individualized Educational Planning Committee.
  11. Maintains appropriate paperwork as mandated by state law.
  12. Acts as a liaison between school and community agencies.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations Diversity Equity and Inclusion Principal and/or Supervisor
  14. Participates in Medicaid billing.
