Multilingual Learner Instructional Assistants at Sturgis Charter Public School facilitate the inclusion of linguistically diverse students as they take courses in our rigorous International Baccalaureate for All Multilingual Learner Instructional Assistant role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated person to gain experience and training by supporting diverse learners in a rigorous academic setting. Applicants interested in learning more about inclusion educational equity and supporting learners from a non-English speaking background are encouraged to :-Help multilingual learners with: clarification in class outlining/reference sheets decoding instructions and expectations-Provide language support including interpretation in content classes for multilingual learners -Work with individuals and with small groups of multilingual learners in both content classes and in separate settings-Establish rapport with students receiving English Language Development support services-Establish a working relationship with content area teachers that includes regular communication and meetings -Communicate at least once daily with both content area teachers and ELD teachers regarding the academic progress of students-Be aware of all major upcoming assignments in all classes for multilingual learners-Attend weekly department meetings-Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and integrity-Other responsibilities related to the position as assigned by the ELD Coordinator
