C.U.P.E. JOB VACANCY

TEMPORARY ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE ASSISTANT

28 hours/week at the Education Service Center (ESC)

From: August 18th to November 15 2025 (or return of incumbent)

THE ROLE

This is accounting and diversified clerical work in checking processing and controlling a variety of accounting data related to accounts receivable and the preparation for computer processing and checking output. Work is performed under general supervision with independent judgement and action within limits of accounting and departmental practices and procedures. New complex or unusual problems are referred to a supervisor. Work performance is reviewed for accuracy completeness and conformance to internal standards and practices. The Accounts Receivable Assistant exercises courtesy and tact in routine contacts with school district staff suppliers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge of accounts receivable operation and system.
  • Thorough knowledge of CCRA regulations regarding variety of donations and income tax receipts.
  • Thorough knowledge of computerized accounting process.
  • Sound knowledge of the rules regulations and procedures governing accounting department operations
  • Working knowledge of double entry bookkeeping methods and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and software applications to perform data processing word processing and keyboarding assignments in accordance with departmental methods and procedures.
  • Ability to deal effectively with staff business firms and the public in supplying information and assistance on matters related to the work performed.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with regulations procedures and practices.
  • Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail.
  • Skill in operating general office equipment including computer and calculator.
  • Sufficient strength and agility to perform the lifting tasks.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent supplemented by two years of post-secondary education in computerized accounting or bookkeeping. Two years previous related experience in computerized accounting or bookkeeping or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $ 33.00 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.
