About the Opportunity

The Business Manager - Aboriginal Engagement will provide high-level project management support to the Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership in the operations strategy and development of the Aboriginal Engagement portfolio. This includes human resources contractual and financial arrangements with the government research philanthropic or industry stakeholders and the planning and coordination of the functions. In addition this role will:

  • Provide operational leadership of the portfolios professional team.
  • Prepare high quality data driven presentations briefing papers and other relevant documentation.
  • Manage reporting against portfolio strategic initiatives and ensure ongoing support as required.
  • Lead timely performance reporting on matters of strategic institutional importance to relevant University Executives and Committees.
  • Act as the key portfolio contact for major projects ensuring that staff are appropriately consulted and engaged in project planning delivery and change processes and Indigenous governance processes are met.
  • Drive initiatives and strategies to ensure high-level engagement with Indigenous organisations representative bodies and development agendas in Tasmania nationally and internationally.

Whats Required

  • Knowledge of the operational strategic and policy frameworks that support the educational social and economic development of Indigenous people within the University setting.
  • Proven experience at senior management level in managing and administering complex projects including research and industry-funded initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indigenous research ethics protocols and ways of working in a higher education context.
  • A proven ability to manage projects from start to finish improve systems and processes and contribute to strategic and financial planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with Indigenous students staff and community.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or an equivalent mix of experience education and training.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $160613 comprising base salary within the range of $130242 to $137276 plus 17% superannuation.
