Job Description

Where you will work

The Lewiston mill is the largest of Clearwater Papers facilities approximately two hours away from Clearwater Papers headquarters in Spokane Washington the Lewiston paper mill is a key component in Clearwater Papers business strategy.

Located on the border of Idaho and Washington Lewiston provides a host of opportunities for those who love the outdoors including fishing boating camping and skiing. There are several social and civic opportunities to participate in including Boys & Girls Club Twin County United Way Lewis Clark Partners Habitat for Humanity and more. Clearwater Paper values involvement with the community and the partnerships created as a result. Lewiston is in close proximity to the University of Idaho Washington State University and Lewis-Clark State College as well as several strong K-12 school districts.

What you will do

  • Benefits and Payroll Administration
    • Act as a resource for Consumer Products salaried employees in the areas of benefits administration and employee relations issues.
    • Coordinate employee benefits with Corporate Benefits Department and Third Party Administrators including health care life insurance benefits 401K and pension.
    • Process changes and maintains data in payroll and human resources system.
  • Employee Administration
    • Assist Human Resource Managers with the termination process including severance letters and calculations.
    • Conduct exit interviews and serve as counsel for retirement and benefit options.
    • Provide input to the formulation of Human Resource policy changes and communicate company policy practices and procedures to all employees as needed.
  • Recruiting
    • Recruit hourly and salaried employees consistent with company standards and compliance obligations including: posting job descriptions screening applications facilitating and participating in panel interviews preparing compensation offers and coordinating relocation.
    • Update the application system as necessary.
    • Prepare position descriptions reflecting pertinent responsibilities activities and requirements.
    • Facilitate pre-employment screening for hourly and salaried new hires including pre-employment tests and coordination of background and reference checks.
  • Compliance
    • Provide details of Equal Employment Opportunities company data and activities.
    • Ensure compliance and provide documentation for regulations on Equal Employment Opportunities Affirmative Action Family Medical Leave Act HIPPA American Disability Act and Sarbanes Oxley.
  • Onboarding
    • Assist in hourly and salaried new hire orientations and provide training and guidance to hiring managers and employees on policies processes and regulatory issues.
    • Facilitate overall company orientation.

What you will need

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional Human Resources experience in a generalist role is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prepare written materials and correspondence.
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and working knowledge of Human Resource Information System and payroll system.
  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Must be willing to relocate for promotional opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prepare written materials and correspondence.
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems and payroll system.
  • Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Must be physically present on site
  • Primarily Office Environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required in the Manufacturing environment.
  • Reading
  • Some fatigue due to extended sitting and long-term computer use.
