Job Description

Manages career preparation career exploration personal and career counseling and career transition readiness

ensuring the achievement of DOL-mandated performance levels and compliance with the PRH DOL guidelines

contract specifications The Bizzell Group policies and Center or contract operating practices and procedures. This

includes interviewing hiring counseling motivating monitoring training and evaluating said staff; performing

outreach activities in the community; developing referral linkages for admissions; developing companies for

assignee placements; serving on program workgroups; marketing the Job Corps program; composing corrective

action plans; and monitoring departmental budgets.


Job Description

  1. Plans organize administers and measures work activities performed by the CDSS department.
  2. Supervises all employment activities including recruitment testing reference checking and related employment matters.
  3. sures approved curriculum is being taught in career preparation training and assigns and supervises staff in areas of responsibility.
  4. Promotes a positive Job Corps image and increases awareness in the community.
  5. Develops referral sources through agency and community outreach and promotes job development through direct contact with employers One-Stops WIA and state employment agencies.
  6. Monitors the delivery of personal and career counseling.
  7. Audits counseling case notes and folders quarterly.
  8. Analyzes CPP surveys and adjusts CPP as needed.
  9. Works to retain students on Center.
  10. Uses the MPO30 MPO32 OMS 20 and OMS20p to analyze data identify performance trends and implement corrective actions as needed.
  11. Promotes teamwork between students and staff and interdepartmental teamwork among staff.
  12. Monitors areas of responsibility to ensure timely and high-quality services.
  13. Works toward meeting performance management goals.
  14. Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
  15. Complies with all DOL guidelines OFCCP regulations Job Corps notices and bulletins and Center policies and procedures.
  16. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  17. Holds regular staff meetings at least twice a month with managers documents meetings and submits documentation to the Center Director and VP of Job Corps Operations.
  18. Attends both OMS and MPO weekly meetings to assist in center OMS performance.
  19. Creates systems and structures to ensure long-term retention of all students.
  20. Conducts quarterly audits of case notes and ESPs. Develops a corrective action plan as needed.
  21. Models mentors and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards.
  22. Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
  23. Evaluates personnel under his/her management and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions promotions and/or merit increases.
  24. Participates in PRH-mandated staff training.
  25. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word PowerPoint Outlook and Excel.

Computer Literacy with basic computer functions email internet and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.

Strong knowledge of the subject area of instruction and academic teaching practices.

High level of communication interpersonal skills and organizational skills.

High level of ability to motivate inspire and educate students effectively.


Experience

Five years in Job Corps Management preferred other managerial experience considered; five years experience

working with adolescents/young adults.

Bachelors degree in counseling psychology or social work is required. Masters degree preferred; any waiver of the

requirement must be reviewed and approved by the DOL Regional Office.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency are also required.

Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
