Definition of Classification:
Under the supervision of the Head Coach the Assistant Coach is responsible for furthering the mission of the University the Department of Physical Education and Athletics and the Bulldog Track & Field program. The Assistant Coach must comply with all University National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rules and policies. The Assistant Coach will serve as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Track & Field and Cross Country programs as well as support as assigned the head coach in the planning administering and evaluating of various aspects of the operations of those programs.

Principles and practices of physical education instruction in a collegiate environment.
Best practices in student-athlete development including academic and personal support.
Social media platforms and digital tools for recruiting outreach and promotion.
Safety protocols and risk management in athletic training and competition.
FERPA and Title IX policies as they relate to athletics and student engagement.
Evaluating athletic talent and potential in high school student-athletes.
Establishing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with student-athletes colleagues and admissions staff.
Organizing and executing recruitment activities including campus visits and communications.
Leading individual and group training sessions with clarity and motivation.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing across diverse audiences.
Managing multiple tasks setting priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced athletic environment.
Using technology for recruiting management data tracking and social media campaigns.
Promoting inclusivity and fostering a positive team culture aligned with the values of a liberal arts institution.

Working Conditions:
This is primarily a heavy work classification with employees working in an outdoor environment moving around campus with frequent exposure to inclement weather. This position requires flexibility to work evening and weekend hours. This position requires physical activity endurance and agility to perform the required duties in a safe and productive manner.

Incumbents regularly stands and walks for long periods; grasp use hands and fingers to operate tools and machinery; balance reach with hands and arms; stoop or kneel or crouch; climb stairs; frequent and/or occasional crawling pushing and pulling; and lift carry and/or move objects typically weighing up to 10-25 pounds and on occasion up to 50 pounds; exposure to dust/dirt noise temperature extremes and repeated exposure to odors/fumes with occasional exposure to hazardous equipment movement and vibration; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person.

HIRING RANGE:Anticipated hiring range is near or at the minimum of the classification commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training. The University of Redlands is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as theHiring Range. Placement within the Hiring Range is determined by internal equity and relevant qualifications.
BACKGROUND CHECK:Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. The University will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. DRIVERS LICENSE CHECK:Possession of a valid Drivers License is required for certain positions. PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS:For certain positions typically in Public Safety Facilities Athletics and Information Technology Services departments employment is contingent upon a candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Public Safety Officers in addition to a pre-employment physical exam will also be required to pass a psychological evaluation.
