Job Description

KCR are delighted to be recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant for an excellent client based in Gateshead. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager to deliver accurate and timely management information that drives decision-making across the business. This role will involve preparing key financial reports managing routine accounting activities and supporting budgeting forecasting and process improvements across operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts including journal entries accruals and prepayments.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Support year-end audit processes and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Provide analysis on performance variances against budgets and prior periods for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee aspects of credit control and ensure compliance with company credit policies.
  • Support payroll processes payment runs and bank reconciliations.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
  • Liaise with commercial teams to review customer terms and assess financial or operational risks.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities under pressure
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented attitude

Desirable Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Sage 200 or similar ERP systems
  • Experience handling payroll bank reconciliations and AP processes
  • Exposure to capital budgeting and cost centre management

Qualifications

  • CIMA/ACCA Qualified or actively studying
  • A degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline is preferred
