Job Description

STEM Teacher


Fitchburg Public Schools (FPS) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated STEM teacher to join our growing and innovative STEM program. As part of our district-wide initiative to align STEM instruction with Engineering and Technology standards within the Science framework the ideal candidate will bring creativity rigor and a student-centered approach to the classroom. This position is guided by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure standards.

Qualifications:

Required Licensure: Must hold or be working toward a General Science license appropriate for the grade level (16 58 or 812) per DESE regulations.

  • Candidates may be considered under Provisional licensure pathways following district and DESE requirements:
    • MTEL and SEI Endorsement as applicable.
    • Completion of PRPL Ed Prep or a 150-hour internship
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching STEM or related fields is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity inclusion and culturally responsive teaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging standards-based STEM instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Science and Technology/Engineering Framework.
  • Integrate engineering and technology content into STEM curriculum using hands-on project-based learning approaches.
  • Utilize data to inform instruction differentiate lessons and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align STEM instruction across grade levels and buildings.
  • Participate in professional development and curriculum planning to support program alignment and innovation.
  • Maintain a safe inclusive and positive learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with families staff and administrators regarding student progress and classroom initiatives.

Essential Duties:

  • Plan and implement lessons that meet DESE curriculum frameworks and FPSs STEM vision.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners.
  • Maintain accurate records of student assessments attendance and IEP/504 accommodations.
  • Engage in ongoing reflection and evaluation of teaching practices to support student achievement.
  • Attend staff meetings parent conferences and school events as required.
  • Support a positive school climate and promote equity and inclusion.

Terms of Employment/Salary/Work Year:

As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and theFitchburg Education Association(FEA).
