About Visy

Visy is powering the circular economy closing the loop between packaging remanufacturing and recycling employing over 7000 people across 150 locations.

We believe materials are not recycled until theyve been made into new products. We collect and sort recyclable materials like paper cardboard glass plastics and metals from households and businesses and locally remanufacture them back into new sustainable packaging. We are using recycled content to power Australia and New Zealands food and beverage packaging industry.

The Role
As Manager of Government Affairs youll play a central role in shaping Visys policy engagement across recycling manufacturing energy and sustainability. Reporting to the General Manager of Government Relations Communications and Public Affairs youll work with a small but dynamic team managing government relations. On a day to day basic youll contribute to policy development engage decision-makers and support the Visy executive leadership team.

This is a strategic and hands-on role suited to someone with a deep understanding of government processesideally including at the federal leveland experience working across politics policy or public affairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess policy and legislative developments affecting Visys operations
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies aligned with Visys policy priorities
  • Maintain strong relationships across government Parliaments and relevant departments
  • Prepare briefing materials correspondence and submissions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent Visy in meetings forums and consultations
  • Collaborate across business units to ensure clear and consistent policy positions

What Youll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years experience in government politics policy or corporate/public affairs
  • Strong knowledge of Australian government and parliamentary processes
  • Proven ability to analyse complex policy issues and develop clear positions
  • Excellent writing and communication skills including preparation of briefs and submissions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy law communications or related fields
