Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Elementary STEM Curriculum Coordinator (K-4)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Elementary STEM Curriculum Coordinator will support teachers and students in all aspects of curriculum assessment and instruction. The Curriculum Coordinator will coach and work collaboratively with teachers to plan creative innovative units and lessons to integrate the skills taught within the most current Massachusetts State Frameworks incorporating the Common Core State Standards. The Curriculum Coordinator will support data collection and student progress monitoring. The Curriculum Coordinator will plan lead and facilitate professional development including content focused professional development. The Curriculum Coordinator will lead department meetings and facilitate PLCs carrying out a consistent structure of discussing student work data and action steps for improved outcomes. The Curriculum Coordinator will be a school leader who participates in curriculum development and technology integration. The Curriculum Coordinator meets with and collaborates regularly with the teachers administration and department leaders.

SALARY RANGE:

Commensurate with experience per teachers contract and Curriculum Coordinator stipend

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent

KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree
  • MA license pertinent to position
  • Minimum five (5) years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts State Frameworks
  • SEI endorsed

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of curriculum alignment to the Massachusetts State Frameworks for each grade level or course in the designated content area.
  • Regular collaboration with Elementary Principals
  • Evaluate and support continuous comprehensive implementation of standards and strong vertical alignment
  • Lead ongoing curriculum development and support the work of PLCs in developing updating and supporting curriculum implementation and assessments
  • Monitor the progress of curriculum and assessment per the WPS Curriculum Review Cycle
  • Participate in annual budget process and present needs for ordering curriculum textbooks materials and resources
  • Provide 1:1 or group coaching for teachers to support their professional growth in the implementation of standards in daily classroom instructional practice
  • Lead teachers in learning walks for job embedded professional development. Additionally conduct learning walks with building administrators to showcase high quality teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with media specialists and classroom teachers to utilize and integrate technology.
  • Meet regularly with principals in a curriculum advisory role to provide perspectives that support an effective Supervision/Evaluation system and Professional Learning Community model
  • Participate in regional job-alike sessions to share and learn best practices and strategies
  • Lead district data collection to inform instructional practices and professional development as well as highlight student achievement and growth for the District Data Dashboard
  • Stay abreast of current research and literature around curriculum planning design and assessment
  • Keep informed of state regulations and mandates

School-wide Leadership:

  • Assume a leadership role in school and district-wide professional development connected to curriculum instruction and assessment
  • Contribute to the Instructional Leadership Teams and Data Team Meetings
  • Partner with administration and the Instructional Leadership Teams to lead and support school improvement plans
  • Facilitate staff professional development sessions and parent workshops
  • The Curriculum Coordinator will meet yearly in September with building principals to set goals and an action plan for their work with teachers
  • All other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
