The Opportunity
Come and join the Monash Animal Research Platform (MARP) as Senior Animal Technologist - Training Officer where you will play a vital role of organising and coordinating the training of MARP staff and Monash University researchers.
A key aspect of this role is promoting animal welfare in accordance with legislative and regulatory industry codes of practice departmental standard operating procedures and university policies ensuring all animal-related work adheres to high ethical and welfare standards.
In addition to providing comprehensive training and technical education this role includes assisting the Veterinary Program Manager in planning developing and implementing training programs on topics such as husbandry breeding and genetics barrier maintenance and techniques for all research animals within MARP. By ensuring a compliant and safe operating environment the Senior Animal Technologist - Training Officer monitors the quality and consistency of training practices.
We are seeking candidates with a Diploma of Applied Science (Animal Technology) and relevant work experience in a laboratory animal facility or an equivalent combination of knowledge training and extensive experience in an animal facility environment. Essential skills include practical experience with laboratory animal breeding husbandry systems and techniques as well as experience in training and record-keeping.
