TITLE: Emergency Manager
ORGANIZATION: Operations

SUPERVISED BY: Executive Director Operations Manager Education Manager
ACCOUNTABILITY: The Emergency Manager at Medic 1 Ambulance is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating and managing emergency medical services during large-scale incidents and disasters in Berrien County Michigan. This position ensures that Medic 1 Ambulance is prepared to respond effectively to emergencies supports the activation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and collaborates with local state and federal agencies to provide comprehensive emergency medical services.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Serve as the primary Medic 1 Ambulance liaison to the Berrien County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during activations.
2. Ensure Medic 1 Ambulances integration into the EOCs Incident Command System (ICS) adhering to the National Incident Management System (NIMS) standards.
3. Collaborate with EOC personnel to assess emergency medical needs and resource allocation.
4. Provide real-time updates on EMS operations including unit status personnel availability and response capabilities.
5. Coordinate with other emergency service agencies to ensure a unified and efficient response to incidents.
6. Oversee the deployment of EMS resources during large-scale incidents ensuring timely and effective response.
7. Manage the coordination of mutual aid agreements with neighboring EMS agencies.
8. Ensure that all EMS personnel are adequately trained and prepared for disaster response scenarios.
9. Monitor and evaluate EMS operations during incidents making adjustments as necessary to meet evolving needs.
10. Develop and implement EMS specific emergency response plans in coordination with the Berrien County Emergency Management & Homeland Security Division
11. Participate in regular training exercises including tabletop and full-scale drills to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
12. Stay informed about emerging threats and best practices in EMS to continuously improve response capabilities.
13. Serve as a point of contact for public information related to EMS operations during emergencies.
14. Work with public information officers to disseminate accurate and timely information to the public.
15. Ensure that all communications are consistent with the messaging from the EOCH and other coordinating agencies.
