Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable data models that power dashboards scorecards and self-service analytics across the business.
- Optimize on-premise SQL Server database performance through advanced query tuning index management and execution plan analysis.
- Write complex and optimized T-SQL queries to support both ad hoc and automated reporting needs.
- Build and maintain robust Power BI solutions including data modeling DAX calculations and interactive visualizations.
- Partner with project managers business analysts stakeholders and data scientists to transform data into actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain documentation on data definitions models and transformations to support governance and data literacy.
- Ensure analytics layer is aligned with source systems and ETL processes.
- Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency across reporting assets.
- Proactively identify opportunities for reporting automation and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
- 8-12 years of experience in data engineering analytics engineering or related roles.
- Deep expertise in T-SQL including performance tuning and working with large datasets.
- Proven expertise in Power BI development including DAX Power Query (M) and semantic data modeling.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts dimensional modeling (star/snowflake) and performance tuning.
- Experience with ETL tools and/or data integration frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to evolving project needs.
- Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g. Synapse Data Factory SQL DB).
- Familiarity with Python R or other scripting languages for data analysis.
- Exposure to modern data tools (e.g. Databricks).
- Background in statistics business intelligence or data visualization best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Data Science Information Systems or a related field.
- Experience with version control (e.g. Git) CI/CD pipelines or DevOps in a data environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
