Activities & Volunteer Coordinator
Hours: Tuesday - Friday 10am-8pm (schedule may vary with advance notice)
Status: Full Time Non-Exempt
Reports to: Shannon West Homeless Youth Center Case Manager Supervisor
Under the direct supervision of the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center Case Manager Supervisor this position supervises volunteers community members and donors while onsite at Shannon West Homeless Youth Center (SWHYC) and works with SWHYC staff to provide planning direction coordination and consultation for all volunteer and community/donor activities and events at SWHYC. This position also acts as support to the Community Relations team.
Duties Functions and Responsibilities:
- Identify a wide range of volunteer/activity opportunities and needs within SWHYC.
- Collaborate with staff to plan content for and execute volunteer activities/events at SWHYC particularly life skills classes
- Draft proposals for new activities/events.
- Ensure volunteers are prepared to support the needs of the staff clients and
- Greet all volunteers community members and donors upon arrival at SWHYC and act as their onsite point of contact.
- Coordinate scheduling and planning of all volunteer activities/events with the Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist.
- Maintain a calendar of activities/events on a monthly and distribute to SWHYC staff via email on a weekly basis.
- Evaluate all aspects of completed volunteer activities/events to ensure effectiveness and to recommend or implement changes as
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer and client sign in sheets and provide timely statistical and activity reports.
- Document all volunteer activities/events with photographs video etc. according to the SWHYC media release policy.
- Coordinate/schedule all in-kind donation drop offs with the Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist.
- Document all in-kind donations and send donor thank you correspondence in a timely manner.
- Maintain open communication with the SWHYC Director and staff regarding duties and events/opportunities.
- Create flyers for all onsite upcoming events/activities and post to the SWHYC bulletin board as well as distribute to SWHYC staff via email as calendar invitations.
- Coordinate holiday scheduling and planning of holiday activities/events/donation drop offs with the SWHYC Director Community Relations team and Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist.
- Act as a liaison to the SWHYC Employment/Education Coordinators and identify volunteer needs within those areas.
- Network develop and maintain relationships with other community and corporate groups.

- Inform volunteers of all pertinent rules of SWHYC.
- Attend meetings as needed with Case Manager Supervisor Program Director Chief Community Relations Officer Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist and Community Relations team.
- Report all program violations within 24 hours of

- Complete all required paperwork and logs including incident reports runaway reports and client tracking
- Provide transportation to and from activities and events when necessary and act as chaperone.
- Attend trainings when offered and scheduled.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Experience and understanding of homeless and at-risk youth
- Understand and follow complex instructions and procedures. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of
- Communicate effectively with persons from a variety of social cultural and economic backgrounds and possess a demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations.
- Effective written verbal and listening skills. Independently initiates and responds to correspondence in a timely manner as determined by supervisors.
- Ability to maintain order and exercise appropriate judgment in crisis
- Maintain flexibility and adjust to shifting
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients fellow employees donors volunteers other agencies and the general
- Organize work schedule and budget time efficiently.

- General computer knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office software including ability to calendar events using Outlook and Canva.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by scheduled activities/events.
Qualifications Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and 3-5 years of experience in management of volunteers and event
- Must have a valid Clark County Health
- Must pass annual TB
- Must maintain current CPR/1st Aid certification at all times.
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Random drug testing is performed.
- Must have a valid NV drivers license and clean DMV record. Driver History Reports are required to be submitted on a quarterly
