About the Role:
University Counseling Services invites applications for the position of Clinical Case Manager. This position will be located at our Monroe Park Campus and primarily provides services to our undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will be able to thrive in a fast pace work environment. We are a dynamic center committed to fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility for faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis coverage
  • Provide brief individual therapy
  • Provide case management and referral support for students referred to off-campus outpatient therapy and higher levels of care
  • Collaborate with campus partners for coordination of care for high acuity students
  • Ability to effectively evaluate risk level of incoming students
  • Collaborate with UCS team of case managers to monitor trends related to student needs and referral effectiveness and provide relevant training and updates to staff and trainees
  • Provide outreach to the VCU Community
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Build rapport with a diverse community of off-campus providers including outpatient therapists IOPs/PHPs inpatient units and substance use treatment providers
  • Conduct triage intake assessments
  • Rotating one evening per week coverage

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Social Work Counseling or related field
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary counseling center team
  • Ability to handle complex crises and/or clinical situations (including suicide risk assessments)
  • Ability to work independently
  • A demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice
  • Understanding of and commitment to diversity issues in the delivery of services
  • Keen relationship manager and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication; effective presenter
Desired Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Social Worker or Professional Counselor
  • Experience providing case management and care coordination in college counseling centers community mental health centers and/or acute care settings
  • Knowledge of navigating health insurance including assisting clients in accessing their mental health benefits applying for Medicaid etc.
