BEST Logistics Group is excited to begin the process of onboarding a Fleet Training Specialist that will join our Safety department here in Kernersville NC!
Reporting to our Director of Safety this person stepping into this opportunity will play a critical role in the onboarding of new Class-A CDL drivers across BEST Logistics Groups 4 fleets while also conducting remedial training for existing drivers managing our Train-the-Trainer program our Driver Finishing Program for new Class-A CDL holders assisting with dash-cam coaching assisting with the creation of instructional material and much more.
The Fleet Training Specialist will be responsible for:
Establishing an engaging hands-on training environment for all prospective new drivers during the new hire orientation process; will ensure that all new drivers are compliant and knowledgeable with all DOT regulations as well as company policies and procedures
Partnering 1:1 with new driver trainers providing them with the necessary training knowledge materials and guidance as they become part of our Driver Finishing Program and train new drivers
Overseeing the Driver Finishing Program acting as a mentor to our trainers and trainees while also conducting weekly trainer/trainee evaluations and updating our partners in orientation of the trainees progress in the program. Will conduct all final skills tests to ensure the trainee is fully equipped to operate independently
Creating and maintaining up-to-date and pertinent training material that excites and engages them into the culture here at BEST
Collaborating with fleet leadership to ensure new hire drivers are assigned to the best fit/available mentor
Acting as a mentor to drivers in the field evaluating their performance to identify areas for improvement implementing corrective actions and providing support that leads to better operational efficiency and service quality
Taking appropriate actions to investigate and resolve areas of performance concern with Fleet Operations to impact a higher level of driver retention
Assisting Safety team in camera coaching E-Log Training (via Pedigree) and other training opportunities as needed
Participating in regular Fleet Safety Meetings and assisting with driver recognition programs
Interested candidates should:
Hold a valid Class-A CDL and have a minimum 5 years of CDL driving experience
No preventable accidents in the past year
Flexible schedule; this person will work 8a-5p Monday through Friday but should exercise the flexibility to work earlier or later days as necessary and some weekends as needed
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools (Outlook Word PowerPoint Excel) and a comfortability learning and utilizing different systems and technology
