Do you enjoy working outdoors Do you enjoy work that benefits the community by making the world a greener place Join our dynamic team of Engineers and Arborists as we work together to improve the green infrastructure of NYC!Arcadis is seeking to hire anArborist Intern to join our team to work on projects for NYC Parks within the five boroughs of NYC.


This position will utilize your technical knowledge and experience to help guide the Citys tree preservation and street tree you grow with Arcadis you will become involved with other NYC Parks programs and with other City agencies all with a focus on the Citys urban forest and other natural systems such as the Staten Island Bluebelt and park restoration projects.

Role accountabilities:

As an Arborist Intern you will be responsible for maintaining daily records and reviewing the daily reports of other inspection personnel providing feedback and advice for improvement. You will utilize the Citys ForMS program as required for each assignment acting as an ambassador for the Citys urban forest resource during interaction with the Citys residents and other City agencies.

You will also:

  • Learn tree health
  • Use effective oral and written communication skills to effectively represent Arcadis and/or our client agencies in interactions with the client local agencies and the community
  • Administer all H&S procedures as required by the owner and as detailed in the H&S manual
  • Perform Invasive plant species identification
  • Attend field meetings and participate in weekly meetings/ mentorships
  • Provide administrative support for program operations.

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in reading and interpreting design plans specifications and shop drawing submittals ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements. They must possess a keen attention to detail and demonstrate a strong work ethic with the flexibility to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines. Exceptional leadership skills are essential as the candidate will be responsible for managing disputes and navigating challenging situations effectively. Additionally familiarity or experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is required to support project analysis and decision-making processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Forestry Forest Biology or Environmental Resources Engineering or closely related field.

Arcadis offers benefits for part-time as-needed positions. These benefits include EAP 401K and optional well-being benefits. The salary range for this position is $23.00-$36.50/ hr. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
