You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailUAS Residence Life is hiring Resident Advisors (RAs) for the 2024-2025 academic year to provide support for UAS Housing student residents and the guest housing program. Become a member of a community dedicated to academic achievement learning and personal growth. Our goal is to encourage and enhance the academic mission of the University through experiences outside of the classroom. RAs serve as role models and mentors to residents by educating them on the Student Code of Conduct and UAS Housing policies connecting them to on-campus resources providing support in emergency situations that may arise and by providing student engagement opportunities. A student in this position will expect responsibilities that are compensated by a semesterly Housing and Dining credit with opportunities for responsibilities that are compensated hourly. Your residential environment will provide the opportunity to experience new concepts different cultures an active community and a pleasant and comfortable living space. Our goal is that you will get involved in your residential community and will help make it a home away from home for all our students.

Ability to serve on an on-duty rotation a minimum of 1 night per week starting at 5:00pm and ending at 8:00am as well as all-day weekend hours on a rotating basis compensated by the Housing Credit.

Able to walk campus rounds consisting of flat grounds sloped grounds and flights of stairs for approximately 30 minutes.
A commitment of one full academic year (or the remainder of such at the time of hire)
Preference is given to applicants with a minimum of two semesters of community living experience prior to their term of employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must complete all UAS employee Required Training (including Safety training Title IX Protection of minors Campus Security Authority and FERPA) within two weeks of their hire date.
At the time of hire applicants must have applied for housing through the Department of Residence Teaching Assistants are not eligible for RA positions due to time commitments.
To be eligible for student employment an applicant must:
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters; and
c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) be in good academic standing or have approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee. If a successful candidate enters the position with a cumulative or semester grade point average below 2.0 the RA will be placed on Residence Life Academic Probation. The RA will have one semester to raise their cumulative and semester grade point average to 2.0 or above in order to remain employed in the RA role.
d. Students enrolled in non-traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
e. An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau. This is a part-time non-exempt Student Level 2 position starting wage $14.38/hr with a $3050 housing credit (per semester) and a $750 meal plan credit (per semester).
Applications will be reviewed on March 12th 2024 and on a rolling basis until a successful candidate is identified.
**Please note many duties assigned to RAs will be covered by the $3050 Housing Credit and $750 Meal Plan. Additional Duties outside of your contract will be paid on an hourly basis.
