The Dir Operations is accountable for providing leadership in and creating a vision for operational excellence in HarbisonWalker International brick operations with a focus on safety cost quality delivery and labor issues in the manufacturing footprint.
Job Duties
Utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to lead and mentor brick manufacturing team(s) to increase productivity lower costs reduce scrap and drive manufacturing efficiency and excellence; conducting plant assessments to identify improvement opportunities and facilitate the development of improvement action plans with the local teams
Leading special projects and assignments providing executive team updates as necessary; setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for each plant that measures performance guides improvement and communicates progress; providing executive updates
Collaborating with Vice President Operations and Engineering and executive team to drive business solutions and improve overall operational efficiency
Qualifications
Requires B.S. degree in Engineering Ceramics Metallurgy Chemical Materials Science or related field
Experience managing large capital and facility improvement projects
Experience with machine automation
Experience owning and analyzing budgets forecasts and financial statements
Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools and methodologies
Advanced knowledge of OSHA workers compensation and industry health and safety practices
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to collaborate and form strong relationships including cross-functional partnering and influencing
Computer operation skills (MS Office QAD accounting system or similar products)
The Dir Operations requires fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience with a successful track record in planning executing and achieving strategic growth plans in a manufacturing environment.
