Description
Summary
The Dir Operations is accountable for providing leadership in and creating a vision for operational excellence in HarbisonWalker International brick operations with a focus on safety cost quality delivery and labor issues in the manufacturing footprint.

Job Duties
  • Utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to lead and mentor brick manufacturing team(s) to increase productivity lower costs reduce scrap and drive manufacturing efficiency and excellence; conducting plant assessments to identify improvement opportunities and facilitate the development of improvement action plans with the local teams
  • Leading special projects and assignments providing executive team updates as necessary; setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for each plant that measures performance guides improvement and communicates progress; providing executive updates
  • Collaborating with Vice President Operations and Engineering and executive team to drive business solutions and improve overall operational efficiency

Qualifications
  • Requires B.S. degree in Engineering Ceramics Metallurgy Chemical Materials Science or related field
  • Experience managing large capital and facility improvement projects
  • Experience with machine automation
  • Experience owning and analyzing budgets forecasts and financial statements
  • Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools and methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA workers compensation and industry health and safety practices
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and form strong relationships including cross-functional partnering and influencing
  • Computer operation skills (MS Office QAD accounting system or similar products)
  • The Dir Operations requires fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience with a successful track record in planning executing and achieving strategic growth plans in a manufacturing environment.
  • Significant travel is required in this role.
