The Attorney Generals Department of Mental Health Litigation Unit provides legal services to all the Departments Divisions. Responsibilities of this position include litigating involuntary treatment cases in the Vermont Superior Court Family Division cases involving competency and involuntary treatment in the Criminal Division and representing the Department in administrative appeals before the Human Services Board. Other duties include contract review related administrative legal work and training mental health providers on all aspects of Vermonts mental health laws. The Unit consists of four Assistant Attorneys General who work closely with the Department of Mental Health General Counsel.

Located in Waterbury the AAG will be responsible for handling litigation in Vermont Civil and Criminal Courts. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be capable of working as part of a team.
