Responsible for designing cost-effective custom and standard packaging solutions that meet industry/customer specifications performance needs and sustainability goals. Involves CAD modeling documentation site visits and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models 2D drawings BOMs and performance calculations using SolidWorks or NX.
- Translate sketches/3D data into accurate drawings per standards.
- Conduct site visits to gather design inputs and customer requirements.
- Develop/modify packaging specs including material dimensions and tolerances.
- Select materials balancing durability cost and environmental impact.
- Review designs with internal teams to ensure manufacturing feasibility.
- Support prototype creation testing validation and documentation.
- Maintain accurate design records in compliance with standards.
- Assist with FAI documentation and continuous process improvement.
- Participate in design reviews and team meetings.
- Bachelors in Mechanical Packaging Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 2 3 years of experience in mechanical/structural design.
- Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Knowledge of wooden/crate packaging package testing ASTM/ISTA standards.
- Familiarity with protective materials cushion design and cleanroom packaging (preferred).
- Experience with measuring tools ArtiosCAD CNC programming (plus).
- Strong communication problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
