Job Description

Job Description Role : PMO Consultant

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or Engineering or holds a relevant professional qualification.
  • Eight years’ experience in a techno management IT and/or business project management role with a widespread knowledge of IT.
  • Good working experience in Project Management tools like EPM MS Projects etc. and in ERP tools like SAP.
  • Knowledge and experience in principles methods techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation. Examples but not limited to: PRINCE2 and PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) from the PMI - Project Management Institute.
  • Possess knowledge of IT projects business and business skills in more than one business sector and understands the significance of commercial constraints.
  • Experience in applying specific quality standards to all tasks undertaken to ensure that deliverables are accurate and complete.
  • Management or professional responsibility and has received training in data and business analysis methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrate high standards of professional behavior in dealings with clients colleagues and staff.
  • Assist in coordinating analysis prioritization and approval of IT demands and monitoring the execution of IT projects.
  • Support in ensuring that the documentation of IT demands follows approved process facilitates feasibility studies and business case preparation reviews cost-benefit and return on investment analyses and supports in approvals’ coordination.
  • Support in preparation of portfolio/program management plans and activities for the set of interrelated projects from demand approval to project close-out. Assist in providing a cross program view to ensure consistency and ensure that dependencies within the program are properly handled.
  • Support in formulating and maintaining PMO support strategy processes procedures tools and techniques in line with corporate standards. Supports in verification of standards for project delivery lifecycle including business cases and ensures quality of IT projects. Coordinate and assist program/project managers on project management processes and adherence to standards. Support in facilitation of process improvement and other continuous improvement mechanisms.
  • Support in evaluation of project performance to meet all IT projects’ targets and provides timely reports. Analyzes and coordinates discussions on changes where performance is found to be unsatisfactory. Report review findings document compliance and non-compliance and where necessary seeks advice on ways of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the control mechanisms.
  • Support in reviews of projects’ economics to include costs budgets resourcing and risks for
  • Is familiar with the Qatargas IT strategy policies and standards and industry regulations/ constraints.
  • IT projects. tracks expenditure to identify where costs may exceed planned budget. Analyses and seeks advice on areas where actual or forecast expenditure deviates from budget by more than agreed tolerances.
  • Carry out specific assignments related to the project areas either alone or as part of a team. Provides quality assurance of activities involving the project governance. Conforms to and promotes quality standards and policies relating to project management and is familiar with applicable legislation and compliance guidelines. Promote transfer of knowledge and awareness of the project management to those in closely-related areas such as IT staff clients/users and development teams.
  • Coordinate with the business owner during the post implementation stage for analysis of benefits from the IT projects. Identifies specific measures and mechanisms by which benefits can be measured and monitored and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time. Monitor outcomes in terms of benefits against what was predicted in the business case at the end of stipulated period and reports the same to key stakeholders.
