  • Fixed term contract X 2 positions
  • $97099 per annum plus Superannuation
  • Join the Youth Engagement and Pathways team

The position reports to the Team Leader Partnerships Engagement and Pathways and is responsible for the development delivery and evaluation of programs and supports   that foster social connection and engagement; skill-building and pathways to education training and employment for young people predominantly aged 18 to 24 years. 

The key objectives of the position are:

  • To plan develop and evaluate programs and opportunities for young people aged 18 to 24 years to participate in further education training and/or employment.
  • To develop and maintain existing networks links and partnerships that facilitate co-operation and coordination of information resources and supports across Hume to improve outcomes for young people as they develop.
  • Provide opportunities that foster social connection and bring together young people and families from different cultures identities backgrounds and lifestyles
  • Provide opportunities to recognise and celebrate young peoples achievements.

What youll be doing:

  • Map existing pathways and supports for young people to higher education vocational training and employment; and identify service and program gaps.
  • Work with local businesses training and education providers community agencies and youth services to ensure young people in Hume have opportunities to engage in employment and training pathway programs such as work experience and readiness programs social enterprise programs entrepreneurships volunteer opportunities internships apprenticeships and/or traineeships.
  • Develop implement and evaluate new initiatives which promote youth participation in pathways to higher education training and/or employment.
  • Encourage education providers employment services and community organisations / groups to attend and/or create appropriate networks to build a more connected community.
  • Develop and maintain new and existing relationships with local education providers employment services and community groups that support young people aged 18-24 years promote engagement and expand opportunities.
  • Create opportunities for the sector to come together to share knowledge about the current and emerging needs of young people and service gaps to work together to align objectives and deliver meaningful impact.
  • Undertake experiences and events for young people that promote and enhance the activation of Councils Youth Facilities.
  • Provide opportunities to recognise and showcase the achievements of young people in Hume.
  • Research and prepare draft reports memos and responses for consideration by the Team Leader Partnerships Engagement and Pathways and the Coordinator Youth Engagement & Pathways.

The skills and experience youll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in family youth and/or community services or a lesser formal qualification with substantial relevant experience in a closely related area.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and develop new and existing relationships with local education providers employment services and community groups that support young people aged 18-24 years.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a team contributing to an environment that promotes high performance.
  • Previous experience in developing planning facilitating and evaluating programs and events is preferred.
  • Understanding and knowledge of models of youth participation inclusion cultural and linguistic diversity community consultation and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan develop and evaluate programs and supports that focus on engagement skill building and pathways for young people in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder and project management communication and leadership skills and experience.
  • Current drivers licence.
