Job Description

Position Overview

TheAssociate Medical Director of Anesthesiology will assist the Medical Director in overseeing a department of more than 400 physicians and advanced practitionersdelivering high-quality anesthetic care across150 daily siteswithin the health system. This role integratesclinical leadership clinical program development education research and faculty development ensuring that the department functions as an essential part of an integratedmulti-specialty group practiceacross multiple hospitals and clinical sites.

Additionally the Associate Medical Director will serve asProgram Director for the recently developed ACGME-accredited anesthesiology residency program leading the education and training of the next generation of anesthesiologists while fostering faculty development mentoring and leadership advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Operational Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Medical Director Operational Director and Practice Administrators todevelop and implement a comprehensive departmental strategic plan that aligns with the health systems mission and vision.
  • Standardize and implement clinical workflowsand evidence-based best practices to enhance efficiency quality and patient outcomes.
  • Engage with surgical perioperative and hospital leadershipto drive operational improvements in anesthesia services.
  • Identify and executeprocess improvement initiatives promoting ahigh-reliability culturewith continuous quality enhancement.
  • Lead efforts to enhancepatient experience safety and efficiency ensuring best practices in anesthetic care delivery.
  • Collaborate with theMedical Director of Qualityto implement clinical protocols that reduce care variation and optimize outcomes.
  • Participate infinancial stewardship supporting resource management operational priorities and accountability within the department.


Residency Program Director (ACGME-Accredited Program application pending)

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of theACGME application and management of anesthesiology residency program ensuring compliance with all accreditation requirements.
  • Develop and refine thecurriculum educational experiences and assessment processesfor residents.
  • Foster aculture of learning mentorship and professional developmentfor residents and faculty.
  • Support faculty in integratingevidence-based teaching strategiesand providing high-quality training.
  • Act as a liaison with theGME office ACGME and other accrediting bodies to ensure continued program excellence.

Faculty Development Research & Mentorship

  • Promotefaculty development initiatives ensuring continuous learning and career growth opportunities.
  • Support faculty mentorship programscultivating leadership potentialwithin the department.
  • Advocate forresearch development encouraging participation in clinical trials quality improvement projects and scholarly activities.

Workforce Planning & Engagement

  • Partner with the Medical Director to overseeworkforce planning recruitment and retentionstrategies.
  • Enhance departmentalengagement and connectivity fostering asupportive and inclusive culturewithin the integrated multi-specialty group practice.
  • Supportfaculty well-being initiatives to ensure provider satisfaction and sustainability.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Assist inmonitoring resource stewardship developing financial and operational priorities and executing strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Establish and maintainsound management and business discipline ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • As part of the leadership role the Associate Medical Director will remain an active clinical practice providing high-quality patent centered anesthesia care in a team-based collaborative environment.
  • Exemplify clinical excellence and lead by example setting the standard for professionalism evidence- based practice and patient safety.
  • Establish and maintainsound management and business discipline ensuring fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Promote efficient use of clinical resources including OR time staffing equipment to enhance patient flow and reduce delays.

  • Reports directly to theMedical Director of Anesthesiology.
  • Works closely with:
  • Departmental Operational Director
  • Practice Administrators
  • Chief Medical Officer BMG
  • Chief Medical Officer of Hospitals
  • VP of Perioperative Services
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Chief Financial Officer
  • Medical Director of Quality
  • Hospital & Health System Senior Leadership including the Chief Physician Executive

Qualifications

  • Board-certified anesthesiologistwith strongclinical and healthcare administrative experience.
  • Experience inresidency program leadership GME administration and academic medicine.
  • Completion of Anesthesiology residency/fellwoship program
  • Masters in Business Administration preferred.
