Job Description Summary:


Executes research-based faculty onboarding and off-boarding activities and concierge services such as move coordination equipment management lab planning recruiting protocol development and submission and familiarity with available resources. Implements strategies to accelerate productivity and improves the onboarding experience. Collaborates in facilitating positive and organized transitions to and from AWRI.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Establishes and maintains engagement with new faculty member leads onboarding resolves questions manages logistics and independently runs major initiatives. Coordinates assigned aspects distributes responsibilities organizes equipment and materials and provides compliance oversight in materials and data transfer.
  • Confirms completion of mandatory institutional training requirements provides opportunities for professional development and lifecycle of grant education.
  • Assembles the physical set-up of lab needs assessment recommended lab layout and design and updates asset management database. Assists with staff recruitment budget planning and set up of lab-related systems.
  • Reviews the AWRI Integration Map/Timeline assists with completion of required training. Develops and implements new hire onboarding process/training systems. Facilitates appropriate interactions related to available services and acts as a point of contact.
  • Collaborates with marketing to provide website content. Assists marketing in collecting content for existing laboratories and ensure a consistent experience.
  • Assists with faculty orientation for new faculty with research interests. Educates on polices resources and culture. Provides support to newly onboarded Postdoctoral employees by following procedures.
  • Leads collaborates coordinates and supervises offboarding compliance requirements logistics and materials and data transfer. Ensures completion of all relevant tasks. Works with Research Facilities to coordinate the move date and oversees the laboratory move.

Education Requirement:

Bachelors degree in a STEM field preferred.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to independently manage projects from concept to completion prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities. Project management experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across diverse audiences and teams. Customer service orientation and a professional positive demeanour required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new scientific content and adjust programs and services accordingly to meet evolving needs.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft office products and ability to learn other technical software programs.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in biomedical research ideally within an academic wet lab setting required.
  • 2 years experience in laboratory management and/or having management responsibilities such as training new staff ordering establishing lab systems managing budgets etc.
  • Previous experience hiring and directly supervising and managing staff preferred.
  • Experience with IRB IACUC and IBC protocol creation submission and management preferred.
  • Experience developing and facilitating training materials preferred.
  • Project Coordination experience preferred.
