Job Summary
We are seeking anAdvanced Practice Provider (APP)for the Duke Orthopedics - Foot & Ankle clinic located in Cary NCas well as a possibility of other Wake County NC locations toprovide direct patient care services in collaboration with the attending physician requiring Foot & Ankle Orthopedic care as well as General Orthopedics. The APP will augment a physicians ability to provide medical services to patients. First assist with surgeries performed at Duke Raleigh Hospital and Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon. If Nurse Practitioner RNFA certification required.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide care for patients needing foot & ankle orthopedic and general orthopedic care.
- Coordinate patient care including triage physical exams collecting and documenting data conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordering and scheduling laboratory studies assisting with peri-operative workflow including scheduling pre-ops and post-op follow-up diagnostic procedures and professional consultations and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physician nursing staff patient resource manager home health agency and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Provide timely documentation in the electronic medical record of all relevant data including results of diagnostic tests; laboratory results; patients condition and response to therapies/interventions; communications with physician colleagues.
- Respond to patient inquiries and concerns via telephone or EPIC MyChart messages and be accessible to consult with supervising physician as needed.
- Analyze clinical practice patterns to provide the best medical care and to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Refer general orthopedic patients to other services as needed to meet the needs of the patients.

Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Masters degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Work requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelors degree required; Masters degree strongly preferred.
Certification
License
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. National certification as a NP required.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- DEA license required.
