Job Description

Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Principal to join our EMEA Tax Controversy Team with a focus on indirect tax controversy matters.

The Tax Controversy Team is responsible for tax audits and dispute resolutions across the region. We are looking for a candidate who can operate in a dynamic environment and will roll up their own sleeves and dive deep to deliver impactful results on multiple projects with competing deadlines. This role requires some international travel and interactions with other members of the Amazon tax team handling various tax issues as well as non-tax stakeholders including Legal Finance Accounting and the Business. The role also requires interactions with external advisors as well as revenue authorities.

This position is in London.

Key job responsibilities
- Strategy and management of indirect tax audits and dispute resolutions in EMEA including:
- Management revenue authorities relationship.
- Preparing managing and coordinating responses to information document requests due diligence requests and other similar inquiries from revenue authorities.
- Preparing and presenting presentations to revenue authorities.
- Providing technical audit support in written and oral submissions to the revenue authorities.
- Coordinating with the stakeholders within Amazon Tax and non-Tax teams in connection with the controversies.
- Researching and documenting tax issues from a controversy perspective.
- Managing relationships with outside counsel and other external advisors on tax controversy matters.
- Implementing and executing organizational processes to help the Tax Controversy Team meet its goal of continuous process improvements related to the teams objectives.

- 10 years of indirect tax experience in law firms accounting firms or MNCs including experience in tax controversies management
- Proven experience in the management of controversys and litigation.

- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
- Desire to work in a dynamic fast-paced informal and often ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
- High work standards and excellent written and oral communication skills
