Department: Insert Manufacturing & Engineering Workshop
Location: Hamble Hampshire
Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

Job summary What to expect:

As the Technical Administrator in our Manufacturing and Engineering workshop team. You will be expected to provide Technical Support and oversight of the Insert Manufacture and Workshop teams to deliver and efficient and effective service to business units and project teams. As well as:

  • Acting as an internal supplier to UK Manufacturing and Hungary for insert manufacture to ensure inserts are always available at the right standard as well as manufactured spare parts and engineering projects.
  • Assess all jobs whether they should be made in-house or outside and act as main liaison for external suppliers.
  • Stock maintenance of consumable parts and raw materials including monitoring of usage and ordering.
  • Ensure that all machinery is calibrated and maintained in an effective way using an appropriate maintenance strategy and record keeping system.
  • Plan and schedule work for both workshops.
  • Liaison for external suppliers.

Work Environment:

  • The insert manufacture areas are clean temperature controlled engineering workshop is a more typical engineering environment.
  • The job holder will be predominantly office based although the role will involve spending time in both workshops areas where appropriate PPE must be worn.
  • There is low level noise in some of the working areas from machinery but this does not require ear protection to be worn.
  • The job manages the activity of a team working Mon-Fri on two shifts.
  • Nominally a day-work role but flexibility essential to manage early and late shift.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel between sites will be required therefore a drivers licence is needed.

About you:

Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literate with intermediate skill in the use of Word Exceland Outlook and Power point.
  • Ability to read and understand technical material e.g. Engineering Drawings.
  • Ability to deal with a range of suppliers and vendors.
  • Ability to trend and analyses data.
  • Excellentorganizationalskills and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Use of service now and Blue Mountain
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with others.
  • The following behavioural competencies: Planning and Organisation Communication Team Orientation Quality conscious Continuous Improvement and Change Orientation.

Experience/Education

  • Knowledge of contact lens mould tooling and/or inserts
  • Manufacturing engineering discipline desirable.
  • Maths and English to NVQ Level 2
