Are you a motivated positive and enthusiastic insurance professional looking to grow with a forward-thinking organization Our client a dynamic and expanding Managing General Agent (MGA) is seeking a Commercial Insurance Underwriter Farm & Agri-Business to join their Hamilton team.
With offices in Ontario and Alberta our client delivers specialized commercial insurance solutions across Canada leveraging strong relationships with Lloyds of London and a national network of licensed retail brokers. Their mission is to provide exceptional underwriting services and innovative insurance products that support Canadian businesses and industries.
As a key member of the underwriting team you will play an important role in building a profitable book of commercial and farm business. You will:
Underwrite farm and commercial property and liability submissions offering tailored insurance solutions for retail broker partners.
Ensure accurate underwriting pricing and documentation of moderate to complex commercial accounts.
Operate within Lloyds contracts established underwriting authority limits and structured guidelines.
Develop strong relationships with brokers to support their client service and sales efforts.
Identify opportunities to improve department efficiency and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.
Collaborate with colleagues across a national underwriting team.
Minimum 5 years of commercial P&C and/or Auto underwriting experience.
CIP or CRM designation (completed or in progress) considered a strong asset.
High proficiency with Excel MS Office Outlook and insurance systems such as EPIC or PolicyWorks.
Exceptional customer service and broker relationship-building skills.
Strong negotiation skills business acumen and an independent initiative-driven work style.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving deadlines and technology.
Competitive salary
35-hour work week (8:30am 4:30pm Monday to Friday)
