Job Title: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Cloud & Automation
Location: On-Site Vancouver BC Canada
Experience: 3 Years
Role Summary: NearSource is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our high-performance engineering team working on a project with a Fortune 500 product company. This role involves building scalable test automation for enterprise-grade cloud applications and collaborating with global teams to ensure software quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to collaborative development teams focused on cloud-based product testing
- Execute requirements analysis design reviews and risk assessments for product releases
- Design and implement automated testing tools and test cases aligned to business requirements
- Drive defect tracking and software quality initiatives across the development lifecycle
- Work closely with developers DevOps engineers and product designers across international locations
- Stay current with emerging tools and practices in cloud and software quality engineering
- Recommend optimizations for performance reliability scalability and resilience in cloud environments
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture
Must-Have Skills:
- 3 years of professional experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test
- Proficient in Python Groovy or Shell for automation scripting
- Experience designing and developing custom test frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Skilled in Agile methodologies including Scrum
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Effective collaborator in distributed cross-functional teams
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Understanding of containerization and microservices architecture
- Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS Azure or Google Cloud)
- Familiarity with the Microsoft .NET ecosystem
