The Building Maintenance Worker Painter is responsible for preparing painting and maintaining the interior and exterior surfaces of university buildings ensuring a clean safe and attractive campus environment. The position supports university operations by performing skilled painting surface preparation minor drywall and carpentry repairs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning patching sanding and priming walls ceilings woodwork and other surfaces.
- Apply paint stain varnish and other finishes using brushes rollers and spray equipment.
- Maintain and repair painted surfaces including touch-ups and full repaints.
- Assist with minor drywall repair plastering and surface texturing.
- Select appropriate materials and match paint colors to existing finishes.
- Maintain painting equipment and ensure proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Perform inspections and recommend preventative maintenance or painting needs for campus facilities.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff on projects that require painting minor carpentry or surface restoration.
- Set up scaffolding ladders and other equipment safely to complete jobs at various heights.
- Follow all university safety protocols and OSHA regulations during work activities.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used work performed and time spent on projects.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience in painting or general building maintenance preferably in a commercial educational or institutional setting.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
