SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:The therapeutic paraprofessionals primary responsibility is to provide support for the implementation of an appropriate academic program that is in accordance with district standards assist with modifications allowed by the individualized education plans and assist with classroom instruction and behavioral management. This position is emotionally intensive and requires a steady calm and consistent mannerism. Routine processing of student behaviors with the teacher and therapist is a primary responsibility so that the behaviors can be evaluated and a plan of action towards those behaviors can be developed and implemented. The therapeutic paraprofessional spends 70% of the time in therapeutic duties and 30% of the time in academic duties

1.Work collaboratively with Day Treatment Special Education and other school personnel.

2.Actively participate in Day Treatment Team meetings.

3.Communicate with mainstream teachers and school personnel regarding student academic progress and behavior.

4.Provide instructional and therapeutic support to students in a classroom setting and provide instructional and behavior management support in mainstream classroom setting.

5.Maintain a record keeping system and visual representation to track levels percentages incentives individual and group goals and homework completion

6.Resolve conflicts among students and process learning from behavioral issues and advise students of socially appropriate and inappropriate behaviors while modeling these appropriate social behaviors.

7.Enforce student expectations and limits according to the level system to include escorting students to/from classes and activities as well as supervise lunch activities.

8.Assist with planning and implementation of Standards-based curriculum.

9. Communicate with staff and participate in meetings
