Administrative Assistant to the Manager
Public Works Water/Wastewater Operations

Status: Regular Full Time

Salary Range: $56618 - $70774(plus comprehensive benefits)

Location: 3515 Wolfedale Rd Mississauga

Hours of work:35 hours/week

Who we are:Water & Wastewater Operations is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the linear distribution and collection systems and our communal wastewater treatment plant and wells. The team is also responsible for the oversight of the operations and optimization at our large water and wastewater treatment facilities. The team also looks after the administration and enforcement of the water wastewater and backflow bylaws. The CCTV team completes condition assessment of all sanitary sewers. Our business support team focuses on continual improvement initiatives and contract administration for the whole operations team.

What you will do in this role:

  • Provide administrative support for the Supervisor Inspectors and Technical Analysts
  • Receive and review Backflow reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain and input data into Backflow Data Base
  • Accept and Process payments for Hydrant Permit Applications Test Reports and Cross Connection Surveys
  • Receive Spills/Complaints from residents and other agencies/cities and log them into Hansen
  • Dispatch details of Spill/Complaint to spills co-ordinator for response
  • Handle inquiries from residents and other utilities regarding water/wastewater concerns
  • Maintain and update qualified persons and companies registry
  • Provide month end reports for the supervisor

What the role requires:

  • Secondary school diploma with a minimum of one year job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word Excel and Power point and a familiarity with Hansen operating system is an asset

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with management staff and clients
  • Ability to apply discretion and confidentiality on divisional issues
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner within a collaborative team environment
  • Detail oriented to ensure a high standard of professionalism
  • Strong customer service focus with ability to maintain prioritization
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity equity and inclusion through continuous development modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias

In this role youll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve.
