About the Position

The Aviation Mechanic provides routine maintenance and repair on fixed wing and rotorcraft owned and operated by the MCSO ensuring safety for public and pilot while meeting the Federal Aviation Administration standards and regulations.

Position Qualifications

We recognize your time is valuable so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

Experience

  • Possession of a current Mechanics license with airframe and power plant ratings issued by the FAA.
  • Three (3) years of experience of repair and maintenance of fixed wing or helicopter aircraft.

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Other requirements

  • Must possess a current mechanics license with airframe and power plant ratings as issued by the FAA.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona drivers license.
  • Training with the exception of Arizona drivers license to be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS IS100 and 700; OSHA training; ADP payroll training; PREA training
  • Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
  • Prior to hiring the Sheriffs Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Bell Helicopter Factory School Training and/or experience maintaining Bell 407 or other Bell Helicopters.

Preferred training certifications and/or other special requirements:

  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization and/or Arizona CDL with Hazmat certification.

Typically successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to midpoint of the range based on applicable experience internal equity and budgetary allowances.
