Portland Public Schools: School Counselor High School
Portland Public Schools seeks an innovative and passionate School Counselor to provide social and emotional support and by enhancing the educational experience for our students.
Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:
1. Masters Degree in Counseling with a Valid Guidance and Counseling Endorsement (NT)
2. Masters in Counseling and a K-12 School endorsement from the State of Michigan
3. Experience as a teacher or counselor in a K-12 setting.
4. Experience in standardized testing
5. Working knowledge of curriculum and teaching and instruction
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:
1. Experience in School Counseling
2. Knowledge of Personal Curriculum and Michigan Merit Curriculum regulations
3. Experience in Special Education and Section 504 regulations
4. Able to use technology in an efficient manner
5. Excellent organizational skills
6. Knowledge of MTSS and PBIS to support student needs
7. Experience with student management system preference: Skyward
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Provide personal student guidance counseling
2. Conduct group and individual meetings to assist students
3. Coordinate and facilitate parent student and staff meetings
4. Coordinate standardized testing
5. Work with students and staff to develop educational plans
6. Communicate with parents and community members
7. Uphold confidentiality in all situations
8. Other duties as assigned.
