Overview
MSA has an opportunity for a Project Environmental Scientist at our Duluth MN office. In this position you provide general support for environmental assessments reports and evaluations for environmental projects. This position is a combination of field work and office based tasks. It is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors making a positive environmental impact and enjoys a blend of working independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinefirm.

Responsibilities
The work you may do
- Assist in planning coordinating and performing field activities including collecting soil and groundwater samples for environmental analysis
- Oversee activities including Underground Storage Tank removals direct push soil and groundwater sampling monitoring well installation and other field activities
- Conduct groundwater sampling activities according to State Regulatory Agency guidance using peristaltic pumps submersible pumps and bailers
- Conduct soil gas sub-slab and indoor air sampling according to State Regulatory Agency guidance
- Document field activities using field notes sampling logs and photographs
- Conduct potable well sampling according to State Regulatory Agency guidance
- Conduct initial site visits to determine if Underground Storage Tanks are present
- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessment site visits
- Complete tables and edit figures based on collected field and analytical data
- Author Excavation Reports Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment reports and contribute to other investigation reports
Qualifications
What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in geology hydrogeology physical science with an emphasis in environmental
engineering or a related degree required - 5 years of previous environmental work experience is required less or more experienced applicants may be considered for different job titles
- Professional Geologist or ability to obtain preferred
- Knowledge of State Regulatory Agency guidance preferred
- Valid Drivers license and the ability to travel with some overnight stays required

The salary for this position ranges from $55717 to $89148 per year commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
