The Melting Supervisor will oversee and manage the daily operations of the metal melting section in a foundry or steel manufacturing plant. This role involves supervising the melting process ensuring the correct composition of alloys maintaining safety standards and achieving production targets efficiently. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with induction and/or arc furnaces and must be familiar with standard metallurgical practices.
Supervise melting operations including charge preparation furnace operation and metal pouring.
Ensure proper furnace loading alloying and temperature control to maintain material quality.
Coordinate with quality control and production planning teams to meet daily melting schedules.
Monitor the performance and condition of melting equipment; ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance is promptly addressed.
Train and guide melting crew members on process techniques and safety protocols.
Maintain records of furnace operations input materials yields and melting losses.
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) environmental and safety regulations.
Conduct inspections and quality checks during and after the melting process.
Identify and troubleshoot issues related to furnace performance slag formation or metal inconsistencies.
Coordinate with raw material and scrap vendors to ensure supply quality and compliance.
Diploma or B.E. in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Production Engineering or relevant field.
4 8 years of hands-on experience in melting operations (preferably in a foundry/steel plant).
Familiarity with Induction Furnace Arc Furnace Cupola Furnace or similar melting technologies.
Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles and melting processes.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents furnace logs and chemical composition reports.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and shifts independently.
Knowledge of safety standards and PPE compliance in a high-temperature environment.
Basic computer literacy to enter production data and generate reports.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
