About the Opportunity

Were seeking a dynamic Communications Officer to help elevate the Universitys public profile through strategic and effective engagement with both mainstream and specialist media outlets. In this role youll work closely with senior leaders academics and researchers to uncover compelling stories that align with the Universitys strategic goals and resonate with local regional and national audiences.

Key Responsibilities

As Communications Officer you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reputation and visibility of the University by delivering high-impact media and publicity campaigns. Your core duties will include:

  • Showcasing Griffiths achievements across corporate research student alumni and staff areas through mainstream specialist and social media.
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets including industry-specific publications.
  • Proactively identifying media opportunities for academic experts to contribute to public discourse responding to media enquiries monitoring coverage and providing feedback to stakeholders.
  • Researching writing editing and distributing high-quality content including media releases op-eds feature articles and digital content that highlights the Universitys impact.
  • Leading the editorial process and overseeing the design and production of approved publications.
  • Developing and implementing strategic publicity plans to support key campaigns and announcements.
  • Coordinating press conferences and media visits managing logistics and collaborating with photographers and videographers to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Collaborating with internal teams across Marketing and Communicationsincluding the video content teamto deliver integrated media materials and campaigns.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a media-savvy communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about telling stories that matter.

About you

  • Degree in Journalism Communications or Public Relations and a minimum of 3 years experience in a related role or professional experience equivalent to a minimum of 5 years in a related role.

Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.

What we can offer

This is a continuing opportunity based at Nathan or Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.

HEW 6 Salary  Base range -$91843.49 - $97964.71  17% super. Full package range - $107456.89 - $114618.72
