The Alaska Stable Isotope Facility (ASIF) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) seeks applicants for a term-funded staff position to lead the use and maintenance of a Multi Collector Plasma Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (NEPTUNE - multi collector ICPMS) to analyze samples submitted by clients for a broad range of projects. Strontium isotopes are the focus of the lab and prior experience using and applying this isotopic system is needed. This position will involve running and promoting the state-of-the-art MC-ICPMS instrumentation as part of the ASIF which is a non-profit analytical research facility (research center) in a dedicated state-of-the-art lab space.
To thrive in the role this staff member would have sufficient prior experience running a laser ablation and and solution MC-ICPMS system to primarily analyze strontium isotopes to confidently keep up with running and billing for samples submitted by clients. The staff member would also thrive by actively interacting with existing ASIF staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree and two (2) years research experience at the postgraduate level in a field relevant to the research (e.g. science geochemistry chemistry) or an equivalent combination of training and experience. This person MUST have prior hands on experience using a laser ablation and solution MC-ICPMS system - preferably a Neptune.

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks Alaska. This is a full-time term-funded exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary andfull employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on theUA Staff Salary Schedule Grade 80 based on education and experience.
