Job Description

JOB GOAL:

To provide clerical services and general office support to the staff of Stephens Elementary School. The incumbent in this position will perform other clerical related duties in the principals office as directed.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Pay 719 Grade 1 (31) $17052 $30072 Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (188 days) plus benefit package. FLSA: Non-Exempt

NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma.
  2. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills.
  3. Must be able to operate telephone console (instructions provided).
  4. Must have computer skills working with eSchool preferred.
  5. Must be able to operate telephone console (instructions provided).
  6. Must display knowledge of computer software and hardware.

Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  1. Operates all office machines assists in keeping the school office organized and performs clerical duties.
  2. Operates all office machines and assists in keeping the school office clean and organized.
  3. Makes simple repairs on damaged books and processes more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
  4. Readies books for reserve on teachers request and maintains the back-number stacks.
  5. Assists the Media Specialist in the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books to be discarded and daily media center operations.
  6. Shelves incoming books and oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:


While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and downstairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
