Job Description

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess a minimum of a bachelors degree in one or more of the following areas: psychology sociology behavioral science special education child development teaching and/or human services field.
  • Counseling license and/or teaching background preferred. Proven ability to coach school staff and work with students to improve SEL outcomes. Experience responding to Tier III behaviors and situations while also familiar with overseeing and implementing Tier I and II supports.

REPORTS TO:Building Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel Services

JOB GOAL:provide consultation coaching and positive behavioral support to staff and families that meets the social emotional needs of our children.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide support and strategies that focus on reducing problem behaviors and increasing appropriate behaviors. Structure such supports for children who are experiencing behavioral or social emotional difficulties may experience success in the academic and or home setting.
  2. Ascribe to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrate the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.
  3. Assist staff with PBIS and other program data collection. Use data on a consistent basis to track behavior intervention techniques.
  4. Facilitate and/or co-facilitate PBIS and/or MTSS meetings and provide effective communication between teams.
  5. Develop problem statements and outcome goals based on analysis of SEL behavioral and other relevant school-wide data to share with faculty monthly; celebrate successes.
  6. Provide support continued consultation and training on behavior techniques general classroom management and relevant topics to teachers paraprofessionals and families
  7. Assist teachers with development of class-wide systems of reinforcement to promote a healthy class environment
  8. Make recommendations for behavior management and sensory integration within the classroom setting.
  9. Provide support assist with implementation and run planning meetings related to Tier I and Tier II curriculums.
  10. Provide input in the development of behavior plans with guidance from BCBA.
  11. Assist and guide teachers in observingdocumenting and describing behavioral data in a measurable way
  12. Coach classroom teachers paraprofessionals and families on components of behavior plans.
  13. Respond to behavioral crises when needed and implement crisis/emergency procedures according to District protocol.
  14. Coach and debrief with team members following crisis/emergency management.
  15. Assist families with and provide resources for parents and caregivers to establish routines and positive reinforcement schedules that promote positive behavior and independence in the home and community.
  16. Work as a member of a collaborative team with teachers administrators specialists parents caregivers and outside providers to ensure a consistent level of support for students with social emotional needs both in the school and at home
  17. Coordinate workshops information sessions and/or trainings that inform parents and families about positive behavior strategies self-regulation fostering independence and self-esteem available community service organizations and any other relevant topics.

  20. Comply with applicable legal regulatory and workplace reporting requirements for data collection storage and transportation
  21. Comply with all district state and federal guidelines and regulations
  22. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Administration
