The Junior Engineer Solid Waste Services supports the Citys mandate to operate and maintain landfills and auxiliary waste management systems. This role involves assisting senior engineers in overseeing and optimizing multi-faceted waste management systems including leachate collection pre-treatment conveyance landfill gas management stormwater management monitoring wells compost facilities transfer stations and engineered cover system infrastructure. The Junior Engineer will also help prepare reports and documents to meet regulatory and legislated requirements administer critical landfill system contracts and manage assigned projects.
Additionally the Junior Engineer will collaborate with senior engineers in the functional planning of regulatory and growth-related components of the Citys solid waste system. They will provide technical support on solid waste issues undertake research and analysis and monitor the implementation of solid waste projects for compliance with approved environmental assessments. The role also involves participating in the planning and delivery of infrastructure projects assisting in all phases of project delivery and ensuring project status is monitored tracked and reported accurately. A key focus will be on enhancing operational efficiency in landfill management including material management soil management and airspace optimization planning.
Completion of a 4-year Bachelors degree in a related field.
Minimum experience commensurate with the completion of a Professional Engineer license within the province of Ontario.
