GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


To implement the mission of the Special Programs division with a focus on programs for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing by assisting supporting and providing technical guidance to service providers in school districts and child development centers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.


  • Provide consultative support technical assistance and program guidance to service providers in school districts and child development centers through training emails and phone support.
  • Supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students and providers by analyzing and utilizing data specific to D/HH students.
  • Participate in state and national events and boards related to the education of students with hearing loss.
  • Participate in events and initiatives to support family engagement and early childhood hearing loss incidence and management.
  • Provide support to the Special Education Programs Division for general supervision duties including monitoring and professional development.
  • Assist in and support the goals mission and initiatives of the Wyoming Department of Education(WDE).
  • Ensure WDE has state articulations to fully implement federal IDEA.
  • Attend trainings and all staff meetings to understand the primary goals and initiatives of the department.
  • Link district personnel to Wyoming Department of Education staff who can provide information on specific questions or needs.

Qualifications



PREFERENCES:


A bachelors degree in deaf education certified teacher of the deaf ASL interpreter speech language pathologist audiologist or other closely related field. Preferred: a masters degree and at least 5 years of experience working in the field of Deaf Education from birth through 21 years of age.
