Middle School Reading InterventionistReports to Middle School PrincipalPosition Summary:The Reading Interventionist supports students in developing the reading skills necessary for academic success. Aligned with the Massachusetts Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) the interventionist provides tiered data-driven literacy instruction collaborates with staff to close opportunity gaps and promotes equitable access to high-quality instruction.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Use formal and informal assessments (e.g. iReady DIBELS MCAS benchmark data) to identify students needing Tier 2 or Tier 3 literacy interventions.
Develop data-informed individualized reading intervention plans aligned to students developmental needs.
Deliver targeted instruction using research-based practices (e.g. Orton-Gillingham Wilson or other structured literacy models)
Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress growth goals and at-home strategies to support literacy.
Participate in data teams MTSS meetings and student support team processes to ensure coordinated intervention planning.Knowledge & Skills:
Strong understanding of the MA Curriculum Frameworks for ELA & Literacy.
Expertise in reading assessment tools and data analysis (including universal screening and diagnostic tools).
Commitment to culturally responsive literacy practices.
Excellent collaboration communication and facilitation skills.
Proficiency with formative assessment progress monitoring and instructional differentiation.
Training in structured literacy programs (e.g. Wilson Orton-Gillingham LETRS) - Preferred
