Description

The Role:

As a Trading Standards Officer you will play a crucial role in safeguarding public interests by enforcing trading standards legislation. Based within the Quality Standards and Animal Health team you will have a focus on food standards weights and measure product safety animal health and/or feeding stuffs. You will be responsible for investigating complaints conducting inspections and taking action against any breaches of regulations. Your work will help to maintain a safe and fair marketplace for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints related to consumer protection and fair trading.
  • Conduct inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with trading standards laws.
  • Provide advice and support to businesses on regulatory requirements.
  • Take enforcement action including issuing notices and prosecuting offenders if necessary.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to address complex issues.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and best practices.

This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
