Position Purpose
Contributes to the growth of Telfers research enterprise by providing administrative and analytical support to various key stakeholders including the Telfer Health Transformation Exchange (THTEX) the CPA-Canada Accounting and Governance Research Centre (CPA-AGRC) the directors of all the research-based graduate programs and the academic leads of the various Areas of Strategic Impact (ASI).
In this role you will:
- Administers and facilitates the submission process of internal grant applications in order to improve the efficiency of its administrative aspects for faculty members. To that end administers Telfers research portal for its internal research support program; reviews grant applications to ensure they are complete and ready for submission; provides support for online submission in case of technical difficulties; and collates submissions and prepares reports of internal grant applications for review by the Vice-Dean (Research) and the internal review committee.
- Participates in the development and implementation of internal procedures related to pre- and post-award management of internal and external granting programs to improve their strategic relevance and effectiveness.
- Supports the Vice Dean (Research) the THTEX lead the CPA-AGRC lead and the ASI leads in a number of reporting and performance evaluation activities thus contributing to the Schools strategic planning and future decision making about the School research enterprise.
- Plans organizes and oversees the logistics behind research events and research initiatives (ex.: research seminars Telfer Forums THTEX workshops and CARMA workshops) in order to enrich the student experience and to promote research by increasing its visibility.
- Executes the research communication plan by promoting Telfers research news and events through the appropriate communication channels thereby ensuring that appropriate audiences are kept informed of research developments.
- Acts as a resource person for the Areas of Strategic Impact leads in the coordination of the research activities of these research groups to advance their aims and increase research activity within Telfer.
- Oversees the expenses of the Research Office the ASIs the THTEX and the CPA-AGRC to help maximize the effective use of the available funding.
- Administers the Deans Travel Fund for faculty members as well as the various mobility scholarships offered to research-based graduate students in order to ensure compliance with University regulation while maximizing potential allocations.
- Updates the Research Office and the THTEx websites content in order to provide accurate and timely information to faculty members research-based graduate students and community partners on various research-related topics.
- Acts as a resource person for faculty members and research-based graduate students in regards to predatory journals and conferences by conducting searches and providing the accurate information needed to make enlightened decisions about publications and conferences.
- Maintains the Research Office archives according to University of Ottawa and granting agencies archiving guidelines and policies in order to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Undertakes various special projects of an analytical or organizational nature as requested by the Senior Research Advisor or the Vice-Dean (Research) in support of Telfers research enterprise
What you will bring:
- Experience in project management including the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
- Previous exposure to Web site development and content updates using technologies such as HTML or Web Content Management Systems (i.e. Joomla! Dreamweaver etc.); file management systems such as FileZilla;
- Strong experience in the use of computerized data bases and management systems as well as software such as Windows spreadsheets word processing database presentation e-mail and Internet;
- Knowledge of university structures organization and curricula;
- Understanding of university research funding and internal programs would be an asset;
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to client service to successfully engage in relationship building and deliver personal services;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to formulate creative ideas analyze evaluate and negotiate details;
- Familiarity with financial management software;
- Ability to interpret and implement policies and regulations;
- Verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
