Job Description

  • Reaching for Independence Through Structured Education (RISE)

A team approach to service delivery is utilized for students participating in the RISE

program. These students receive academic instruction social skills training behavioral

intervention and related services. Services are provided in a range of settings from

substantially separate to full inclusion in a general education classroom. A primary focus

for all RISE students is to increase independence with a variety of skills includingself- help social skills behavior management academics communication and executive

functioning.

The RISE special education teacher will serve as the liaison for students with a range of severe special needs primarily focusing on students with an Autism diagnosis. Some students will

receive a significant amount of instruction in small group settings while others will spend most or all of their day in the general education setting.

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate Massachusetts DESE certification and licensure required
  • Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement required
  • Elementary co-teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge and expertise using formal and informal assessments are required
  • Knowledge and experience with competency-based and/or proficiency-based learningpreferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues parents/guardians andothers in the delivery of effective services
  • Superior organizational written and verbal communication skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete formal and informal assessments as part of the regulatory process
  • Monitor student mastery of IEP goals and objectives using various assessments and datacollection tools
  • Utilize data to inform the development of academic and social emotional goals
  • Provide individualized and small group support and instruction across content areas totarget IEP goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with the general education teacher to adapt curricular materials in order to meetthe individual needs of students
  • Meet all timelines in the IEP process including but not limited to participating in IEPmeetings developing IEPs and progress reports completing evaluations and reevaluations.
